COACH INFORMATION & RULES

Game locations

  • Waukee High School Softball fields (Northwest of Centennial Park)
  • Centennial Park fields (1255 Warrior Lane in Waukee)
  • Johnston fields (directly across the street from Timber Ridge Elementary, 7370 NW 54th Ave in Johnston)

Please check in 30 minutes prior to your first game. Waukee High School Softball fields check in at the High School field gate. Centennial Park fields check in at the concession stand by field 2 in Centennial Park. Urbandale Rec fields check in by the concession stands in Urbandale. Johnston fields will have a table marked “Check In” in Johnston.
– Have Birth Certificates & USSSA Cards available if requested
– Each team will be provided 2 new optic yellow USSSA certified softballs (additional balls may be purchased for $7 per ball on-site)
* 8U & 10U – 11”
* 12U & 14U – 12”

RULES

  • Coin flip will determine home team in pool play games. The higher seeded team will be the home team during bracket play on Sunday.
  • Dugout Assignments
    • First team listed on the schedule by field sits in first base dugout, second team on the third base side. Higher seed in bracket play is assigned the third base dugout.
    • Only exception is if team is playing back-to-back games on the same field.
  • Winning coach should confirm score reported by umpire to board member at the check in table.
  • USSSA rules will apply unless indicated otherwise.
  • Team may bat all roster players and freely substitute players.
  • Batter may advance to first on a dropped third strike for all age groups except 8U.
  • Open base stealing will apply for all age groups except 8U.
  • No bunting will be allowed at the 8U level.
  • Mercy Rule – 10 runs after 3 innings, 8 runs after 4 innings, 6 runs after 5 innings.
  • Warming up on the infield is not allowed. Use foul territory or outfield. No hitting drills of any kind on the high school field unless in the dirt (infield or warning track).
  • Time Limit on ALL 10U, 12U, 14U games will be 1 hour and 10 minutes. No new inning will start after 70 minutes. All 8U games are 55 minutes drop dead time.
  • Tie Breakers
    • Pool Play – Game ends in tie
    • Bracket Play – 1 inning ITB. California rules until winner is decided
  • Criteria for seeding from pool play:
    1. Won-Loss records
    2. Head to Head
    3. Runs Allowed
    4. Run Differential (+/- of 8 runs per game)
    5. Coin flip
  • The tournament director reserves the right to modify the format due to inclement weather. Teams playing less than 3 games will get a partial refund.
  • Concessions will be available. No food or drink will be allowed in the complex areas.
  • The Tournament Director will side with the Umpire on all decisions.
